There are some yachts that when you first see them, simply make you stop and stare. SOLANDGE is just such a masterpiece. Her size alone is impressive, dominating any bay or marina, but there is a strange optical illusion… She is so well-proportioned, so elegantly realised that you can’t quite believe what you are seeing – this is no slab of a cruise ship, this is 85m of sheer class. Her size means she can be very generous with the dimensions of the suites and facilities on offer. There are three pools, an infinity-edged jet stream pool on the bridge deck, a jacuzzi forward of the owner’s suite below – the remaining jacuzzi sits in the centre of a wonderful circular expanse of teak on the sun deck. By day this is the place to catch some sun and gasp at the views – by night, a Perspex dancefloor covers the pool and a full DJ and lighting rig converts this into the most exclusive club on the coast. If you prefer less active pursuits, there is a full spa with hydrotherapy pool and sauna, or down in the tank deck is a gorgeous cosy cinema room. Finally bed down in one of the huge guest suites, each larger than many master’s on other yachts. You might have forgiven the interior designers for keeping things simple with such vast areas to decorate but no – every space is individually crafted with its own personality. SOLANDGE’s huge volume can cope with some show-stopping opulence: Murano glass, lavishly finished textiles, polished stone, gilt chairs, complex marquetry are all employed to produce a dramatic neo-classical effect, borrowing from early 20th century Nouveau and Deco themes.
